Somapa Thai Dance Company, a premier Thai dance company based in the Washington DC area, will be presenting Thai classical music and folk dance. Somapa Thai Dance Company has been performing in DC and other states since 1999. The group has performed at prestigious venues such as the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, the Smithsonian Arthur M. Sackler and Freer Gallery of Art, the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, and also performs regularly for the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington DC. They also performed for the Royal Thai Embassies in Mexico and Chile. The group’s mission is to preserve and promote Thai culture and arts in the Americas. Through performances and workshops, the Company hopes to encourage understanding and appreciation of the arts between people of different countries, cultures and ethnicities in the communities in which they are invited.
